So I'm running a half marathon here in Hawaii in just a few days. Got out for a test run in the heat and humidity this morning, made in 3 miles and it felt like 6. The sun is no joke! At least I found a warriors hat to wear on race day though! #unexpectedfinds #running #hawaii #training – from Instagram

When I was at camp in sixth grade I heard some friends talking about this show called the xfiles. I went home from camp, found it in TV and my mom and I started watching it together. We read books about the making of the show, read spoilers, speculation, and recaps on the internet. We were scared, curious, filled with laughter, and occasionally grossed out (me especially when I saw an episode that make me throw up). So it was only fitting that mom and I kicked it old school today by finishing up the 11th season of xfiles today on mother's day. ️️️ 🤓 – from Instagram

Billy Collins poem "Lucky Cat," about his black cat delighted me this weekend. And made me think of my own equally impossible to photograph cat, Natasha. LUCKY CATby Billy CollinsIt's a law as immutable as the onesgoverning bodies in motion and bodies at restthat a cat picked up will never stayin the place where you choose to set it down. I bet you'd be happy on the sofaor this hassock or this knitted throw pilloware a few examples of bets you are bound to lose. The secret of winning, I have found,is to never bet against the cat but on the catpreferably with another human beingwho, unlike the cat, is likely to be carrying money. And I cannot think of a better timeto thank our cat for her obedience to that lawthus turning me into a consistent winner. She's a pure black one, quite impossibleto photograph and prone to disappearinginto the night or even into the thin shadows of noon. Such an amorphous blob of blackness is shethe only way to tell she is approachingis to notice the two little circles of her eyesthen only one circle when she is walking awaywith her tail raised high– something likethe lantern signals of Paul Revere, American silversmith, galloping patriot. ..(c) Billy Collins, 2016From The Rain in Portugal, Penguin Random House#TheRainInPortugal – from Instagram

Doris Kearns Goodwin spoke this morning about lessons president's can learn in turbulent times. She was refreshing and hopeful. Inspiring and genuine. I'm not ashamed to admit to tearing up when she spoke about Lincoln's legacy. #svaf2018 – from Instagram
