Carter’s 1st Birthday

A few years ago I though babies were pretty funny looking. I guess that’s changed because I had a blast last weekend at my friend Brook’s birthday party for her 1 year old son Carter. Brook and David moved to Salt Lake City last year, and they’re really good about blogging about their adventures so far away. Even though I feel like I know what’s going on with them, it was great to see Carter in person and see how much he’s grown since the last time I saw him.

Photos from Free Mind Media’s Benefit Show

Goodriddler aka Nick

The Bunker, Goodriddler, Santiago, and DJ Broken Record played a benefit show for Free Mind Media on Saturday. The event was at Monroe Hall, this crazy old hall on West College avenue filled with tons of Americana and taxidermied animals.

Christmas Eve Day at the California Academy of Sciences

Giant Sea Bass

Yesterday, on Christmas Eve I went down to San Francisco to visit the new California Academy of Sciences. The museum was amazing, it has a huge aquarium–where I spent most of my time–a planetarium, a rainforst biodome, and a living green roof.

I brought my friend Rigel with me, and we met up with David who was taking photos for a story in the San Jose Mercury News. We all took a million photos, I think I’m the first to get them up though.

Fall is Here at the Crux House in Santa Rosa

This weekend I tested out my new (to me) Canon 5D at a benefit for the Santa Rosa Free Clinic. My friends Fall is Here were great, and I’m really happy with the way some of the photos turned out. The basement at the Crux House is lit by 2 bare bulbs, which makes for some really cool lighting.

I’m definitely looking forward to getting to know my new camera. Check out the full photo set here.

Behind the Scenes at Alcatraz

A few months ago David and I went to Alcatraz. He had been before, but I, the native Californian had not and I was definitely looking forward to the trip! I was even more excited about it when my ever-present insatiable curiosity paid off in the form of a behind the scenes tour of The Rock.

One of the awesome staff was taking a couple of other tourists up to check out the view from the Gun Gallery and I piped up to ask where they were going. The result? David and I got a super awesome peek at the prison from the guard’s perspective and we even got to go see the generator building (who knew the Rock has it’s own power grid?) the antique fire truck, and the guard’s break room. All in all, an amazing tour.

Check out the full set of pictures here.
